Seller's Note/ The Madonna of Carmine is the title for the Blessed Virgin Mary as the patroness of the Carmelite Order, closely associated with the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Celebrated on July 16th, she is a deeply venerated figure in Italy, particularly Southern Italy, often depicted in art holding the Infant Jesus and providing the brown scapular to Saint Simon Stock.
Popular devotion (dating back to the 15th century) centers on the Brown Scapular, a garment associated with promises of Mary's special protection and aid such as miraculous events, including saving believers from peril.
