Ave!

Hair Pin, Roman, Interesting!, c. 2nd-3rd Cent

Copper alloy; 80mm/11.9gm

Con/ End tip missing, otherwise, As Fabricated.

Description/ Onion-shaped finial, with diagonal grooves beneath, tapering to a smooth end. Our best guess is, that if not for the missing end, this hair pin may have been close to 90+ in length.

Seller's Note/ Roman ladies tended to wear pins with lovely designs such as birds or hands holding a pearl, etc. But what makes this common appearing hair pin special are the diagonal grooves that were added to hold the lady's hair and keep the pin firmly in place.Roman ingenuity at its best!

Our prices for these charming, decorative and collectible hair pins is just right.
