Seller's Note/ Ground found in the Balkans, such bronze gold-gilded artifacts rarely, if ever, survive in such condition. The star-shaped mount was simply covered with gold leaf. But the dome-shaped mount may have been undergone Fire Gilding: An ancient technique of painting a gold and mercury amalgam onto a surface and firing it to evaporate the mercury. Wow!
