Seller's Note/ In 168 BC, Seleucid King Antiochus IV brought his army to invade Alexandria but the Roman Senator, Gaius Popillius Laenas.confronted the King near Alexandria, Egypt, who had invaded the country.
When the Seleucid king stalled on the Roman Senate's demands to withdraw, Popillius drew a circle around Antiochus with his staff and demanded a firm answer before stepping out. Facing the threat of war with Rome, the king complied and retreated!
