Gringgotts #3 is as mentioned a last step for the real tough ones. It is a modified lye treatment and is not used properly or carefully, contact withthe dry powder will burn. Used properly, it can be used to slowly work on very hard material, again it is non-acid, it has a pH over 12, so it is veery base. It does a great job of cleaning drains! It must not be added to hot water, as there is a great deal of heat released during dissolution. Once it is dissolved, it can be safely heated, or warmed, but I have not found the need to do that. I recommend plastic lab ware or glass bakeware with this product.
