Spit 'n Polish is great for all those minor cleaning and touch-up jobs we come across where Gringott's is too much and distilled water not quite enough. I found this product to be particularly usefull for cleaning coins with delicate desert patinas where the sand fill was obstructing an important detail and a prolonged soak would soften the sand fill too much. S'nP allowed me to remove just enough to get at the details underneath without damaging the patina or removing too much of the sand/dirt. I found that Spit 'n Polish worked best after a short (2 or 3 hours) soak for spot cleaning (an eyedropper is very helpful here - or if not available, just ignore areas that don't need cleaning), or after an overnight soak for coins where a general touch-up is all that is needed. Rinse in distilled water after you've finished, dry, and evaluate to see if any more work is needed. S'nP also tends to slighly darken and tone your coins, so it gives your coin an "uncleaned" look that collectors appreciate and value. And outstanding product for many of those "in-between" cleaning projects.

Excellent new product I will always keep on hand. I have been using it on typical Balkan type coins but it should work very well on desert patinas too. It softens/loosens and penetrates the top layers of dirt, sort of visually separating them from the patina or harder dirt/encrustation beneath. I am able to use a much lighter touch with dental picks in small or detailed areas. It goes beyond what distilled water soaks or soap and brushing alone can do. a drop goes a long way.
