Ave!

Brooch, Disc type with peripheral lugs, Enameled!, c. 2nd Cent AD

Copper alloy; 30mm/4.5gm

Con/ Some ground wear, otherwise, As Cast and Fabricated & Engraved; original pin; due to cleaning uncertainty, the lugs are as arrived; cleaned, not waxed.

Description/ Disc brooch with six non-broken peripheral lugs about an engraved circumference with a checkerboard of blue and white enameling about a raised central boss.

Ref/ Hattatt 124

Seller's Note/ Not exactly sure about the difference concerning the checkerboard of blue and white enameling. Some appear to be blue and others have a more greenish hue. Possibly due to the brooch being in sunlight off and on during plowing that faded the colors? I'm not that smart, okay? Concerning the pin, this is a compression brooch as no spring was needed.
