Ave!

Harness, Bridle Cheek Piece, c. 3rd Cent

Copper alloy; 72 x 72 mm / 43.8gm

Con/ Traces of corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, As Cast; dark green patina.

Ref/ A&L AA 14.62 var.; B&C page 191, image 4 var.

Seller's Note/ Complete bridle cheek pieces remain scarce, first posting in NRC! And speaking of "As Cast", take a closer look as the reverse. What are those swirly indentations at the bottom? Not plow damage for sure. Are they due to the mold, itself? Are they file marks? The final photo shows where the cheek piece would have been located #10.
