Ave!

Celtic, Silver Mystery Artifact, 6th-3rd Century BC

Fine Silver; 43mm/3.5gm

Con/ One terminal missing, otherwise, As Cast. The shaft is squarish, not exactly round, if that matters at all.

Seller's Note/ So, the real question remains is as to its use or purpose. Even our Balkan crew chief was confused when he found it. He mentioned that is was certainly not a tool of some sort but, rather, used for religious ritual purposes. He was disappointed that it was broken and wondered if the other missing terminal was the same. Sadly, we will never know.

He also mentioned that it was found in the same boggy area south of the River Drava where other Celtic artifacts had been discovered, many ritually broken, and then buried as sacrificial gifts to the Celtic gods.
