Ave!

T. Carisius, Denarius, Winged Victory with Victory Driving Biga reverse

Silver Plated; 18mm/3.8gm        Rome ca. 46 BC

Con/ Struck o/c on the reverse, otherwise, Very Fine. Due to the vagaries of the lighting and extreme magnification, the obverse appears to be rough. It is not, trust me. In hand it is just as smooth and glossy as the reverse.

Obv/ Diademed and winged bust of Victory right, wearing earring and necklace; jeweled hair pulled into knot.

Rev/ Victory driving galloping biga right, holding reins and wreath. T CARISI in exergue.

Ref/ Crawford 464/4; Sydenham 986

Seller's Note/ As mentioned above, this issue is a silver plated contemporary imitation = ancient forgery!
