Ave!

Macedon, King Philip V, Zeus with Athena reverse

Æ 16mm/ 3.3gm    Uncertain Macedonian mint, ca. 211-197 BC

Con/ Glossy dark green patina with excellent images of Zeus and Athena; struck on a typical tight flan, otherwise, Good Fine.

Obv/ Head of Zeus right, wearing wreath of oak leaves

Rev/ B-A / Φ Thunderbolt; Athena Alkidemos standing right, holding spear and shield.

Seller's Note/ Too often certain coins DO NOT photo well and this is a perfect example. The patina is so glossy it reflects the light, somewhat obscuring the legends and details which are all clear in hand.

Athena Alkidemos (defender of the people) is a divine epithet for the goddess Athena worshipped at Pella, Macedonia.
