Ave!
Celtic, Sea Lion, Vessel Attachment, ca. 5th-2nd Cent BC
Copper alloy; 65mm/37.2gm
Con/ Dark green patina with minor traces of corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, As Cast and Engraved.
Seller's Note/ Ground-found in the environs of an ancient Celtic settlement south of the Drava river, this charming sea lion exhibits signs of solder on the reverse and was certainly affixed as a decoration to a copper alloy vessel of one sort or another. Most likely it was a trade item from the Black Sea.
