Danube Celts, Æ Tetradrachm, Horse with Rider reverse

Beginning about 300 BC, the Danubian Celtic tribes began to imitate the images on the coins of Philip and Alexander the Great (Zeus obverse and Horse reverse) but in their own particular style. 

Æ 44mm/8.5gm     "Kugelwange" type  Struck ca. 300-200 BC.

Con/ Deeply struck on the reverse and an impressive image of Zeus. Dark brown patina with bronze high lights. Some corrosion to either side, otherwise, Very Fine.

Obv/ Stylized bust of Zeus to right.

Rev/ Stylized horse and rider prancing left.

Seller's Note/ Celtic images on coins are always delightful and this one is a real gem.
