Seller's Note/ Kraftig Profilierte = Well Crafted, by the way. This well crafted brooch was created by a jewelry smith who took the time to add the tinning. The Roman family who originally purchased the brooch may have been wealthy to afford such a luxury or perhaps not.
Due to the size, this small brooch was certainly worn by a young girl, the lady of the house, or perhaps, a privileged lady slave? Two things to remember is that such brooches were worn in matched pairs, as seen in the final photo, and the other is that with the original tinning, it would looked very much like a silver brooch.
